Bishop Steve O. Campbell was
born in Jamaica, West Indies to Christian parents. At the age of nine, he accepted Jesus Christ
as his personal Savior. At fifteen, he
was called to the ministry and began preaching the gospel.
In 1980, he was ordained to the ministry. Bishop Campbell studied theology at the Jamaican Theological Seminary.
In 1984, Bishop Campbell immigrated to the United States and continued his education, which includes: Associates Degree from American Management Institute, Masters of Divinity from Liberty University, Masters of Divinity and PhD. from Faith Bible College
In addition to his spiritual education, Bishop Campbell has labored diligently in ministry for over 44 years. His faithfulness as a Sunday School Teacher, opened the door for him to become the National Sunday School Superintendent. He served as National Youth Director, Church Board Member, Trustee Chairman, Assistant to the Diocesan Bishop and Assistant Pastor. From 1991-1994, he was the pastor of Refuge Pentecostal Temple in Neptune, New Jersey.
In 1995, he founded and established the Word of Life Ministries, Inc. (WOLM), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, located in Brick, New Jersey, which includes over twenty different ministry areas, and continues to maintain fellowship both nationally and internationally. On March 15, 1998 he was consecrated to the office of Bishop by, Bishop Bani Brown, the Presiding Bishop of the Triumphant Church of Jesus Christ, Brooklyn, New York. As Senior Pastor and President of the Word of Life Ministries, Bishop Campbell is a visionary who seeks to develop believers to stand in their position for Christ. He is committed to fulfilling the vision God has entrusted to his care and strongly believes in reaching the lost at any cost. Bishop Campbell is truly an unselfish and humble servant of the Lord who believes in servanthood and the giving of brotherly love, one to another. He daily lives out his motto, “If I can help somebody, my living will not be in vain.”
Through his tireless efforts at the WOLM, Bishop’s accomplishments include: countless number of lives changed for the better, bodies healed, burdens lifted, marriages restored, missions supported, hungry fed, families restored, depressed rejuvenated, runaways counseled and returned home, the sick visited, shut-ins visited, programs and visits to local nursing homes, provided transportation to the elderly for visits to doctors and shopping, clothes distributed to the needy, homeless sheltered and most importantly, the involvement of the youth in programs geared to their personal development and enrichment through guidance in building their self esteem, self confidence and self awareness throughout the communities of Brick, Lakewood, Neptune, Asbury Park, Point Pleasant, Lakehurst and other surrounding communities.
In 1999 Bishop Steve Campbell founded the Word of Life Community Development Corporation (WOLCDC), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which will be focusing on the development of our community and has proposed a $10.5M budget for the next two years to include job creation, community programs and building projects. The focus of the WOLCDC is on the need for better Education, Social Services, Affordable Housing, Youth Development, Arts and Culture and Economic Development.
As part of the WOLCDC program, Bishop Campbell developed the “Youth Excelling in Society (Y.E.S.)”, which its goal is to guide and teach youth the fundamentals that will aid them in a healthy lifestyle. Y.E.S. programs include: Youth Crime Prevention in Schools and the Community, Self Esteem/Confidence/Awareness, AIDs Awareness, Nutrition and Fitness, Drug Awareness, Counseling, Performing Arts, Preparing for College/Career, Mentoring Programs, Volunteer Programs, and Field Trips (museums, parks, zoo).
Bishop Campbell serves as a Notary Public in the State of New Jersey and as an associate Member of the American Management Association Local Chapter. He is authorized to use the designation, M.A.M.A. He also served as Eastern Diocean Bishop and Bishop of Administration in The Lords Churches Fellowship. He also is the author of the books, “Equip yourself With the Word of Life”, and "Daddy can make a difference" he is the producer of the gospel play, “The Judgement Seat” (written and directed by his wife, Pastor Zena Campbell). An Auditor by profession, Bishop Campbell has been employed with New Jersey Transit Corporation.
As a devoted husband and father, Bishop Campbell shares his vision with his wife Minister Zena Campbell, He is highly noted as a husband, father, pastor, teacher, student, preacher, brother, administrator, businessman, leader, visionary, and Son of God.
